Hello and Welcome
My name is Jenny

Passionate photographer based in Northumberland.

I have been a creative all my life, starting with music and moving onto various visual arts as I got older. I first showed an interest in photography at 16 when our family got a digital camera which I upgraded to my first DSLR when I was 21. I since then I pushed into my hobby with the intention to learn as much as I could.

I started documenting out family events and as friends started having babies, I started taking documenting their families, gaining my first experiences as a family photographer.  One of the things that gives me the greatest joy is working with young children and their families. This was the inspiration for me to fill my knowledge gaps by studying photography formally for the first time at the age of 24.  While learning I excelled at portraiture and experimented with various different styles.

Over the years I have experimented with various styles and genres of photography doing everything from event photography to more experimental photography including Light Painting and Levitation.  I am currently building a home photography studio and look forward to experimenting with this style of photography again.

I have had the pleasure of taking photos at prestigious venues and companies within the North East, including BBC Newcastle, Sage Gateshead, and Gateshead College.

Most recently I have started teaching photography with the Newcastle Photography group and even more recently I’ve started teaching privately.  It has reignited my passion for teaching, and I strive to get a whole new generation of young people excited about photography and creating art.

Have recently started work with Worship on the Streets as a volunteer, creating media and even performing occasionally as a vocalist for the first time in over a decade.

Fun Fact!

When I was 18 and allowed to start making my own reckless decisions with my own money, I decided to learn horse riding. Not just any kind of horse riding though, I was a western girl all the way who loved western trail riding. My first and only horse was a black and white cob called William who I loved very dearly. We were the perfect pair as we were both stubborn pains in the butts who loved eating and sleeping.  Digital photography became a really useful tool in learning how to improve my seat and riding style.

"Absolute star for creating such fab family photos from the mini adventure day. She's so lovely to work with… so relaxed. She is great with distracting kids especially my baby girl who was just under six months and Jenny was so patient with her and produced some stunning pics!"

"I had the absolute pleasure of participating in a Mini Adventure Day with Jenny. The photos she produced were beautiful. She is a natural with children and even managed to get my grumpy pre teen to smile, which is really hard work. Jenny also photographed my wedding last year. With amazing results and great editing of images with extra bubbles. The photo of me in my wedding dress with an umbrella in the rain won me a competition too. Jenny and Zestlight Photography are very competitively priced. Would definitely use again".
